Draft Mission Statement, Motto, Goals
 
Mission
The CCE is a nonprofit, volunteer club that strives to promote a safe and enjoyable paddling experience for all skill levels through recreational and competitive programs.
 
Motto
The pursuit of excellence at all levels of participation.
 
Goals
  1. promote paddling as a healthy life long activity
  2. we advocate environmental stewardship of BC waterways
  3. we encourage safe participation for club members of all ages, regardless of skill level or focus.

 Draft of CCE Policy

Boat & Gear Loan:

Must be signed out and signed back in

Must be kept in good condition - Report needed repairs to club executive

When using club boats or gear you must use appropriate safety gear

Must paddle with at least 3 club members

If you borrow club equipment, don’t lend it out.

 

Instructors:

Pay rates: Certified river instructor $20.00/hour

Certified instructor level 1 (18 + yr.) $15.00/hour

Certified instructor level 1 (under 18 yr.) $10.00/hour

Instructors will be given:

15 min paid before class allowed for set-up.

15 min after class to ensure gear is secured.

Must provide a time sheet for hours worked to be paid. (Including Date/hours worked/total hours to be paid)

Must sign contract.

Instructors are responsible for clean up and set up. Boats should be drained and brushed off, and must be locked on the trailer with the cable, trailer boxes locked and lifejackets and decks hung up. Any other equipment used should be stored in its appropriate place.

 

Safety:

if an incident occurs at a sanctioned event it must be reported to the executive

We need to use certified trip leaders

River Safety and Rescue course

 

Classes:

Cancellation at pool 10 days before class starts

Registration 2 class fee 10 days prior to class balance payable at start of class

Class Description: See class sign up

Prices: Member and Non-member fee

Member fee cheaper than Non-member

 

Equipment:

Instructor will be responsible for getting to equipment out and putting it away in a secure manner.

At pool spraydeck are to be hosed off

Pool decks are to be kept clean. Take off street shoes as you enter pool area.

Report problems with equipment to executive.

Lake Paddle: Adult or Youth

Have to be able to do a wet exit

Recommend having a class

Must phone and let contact name know you are coming by the day before the paddle.

Must phone and contact name to book a boat if you need it by the day before the paddle.

Never paddle alone.

Must wear a life jacket.

Contact Person is responsible for opening and locking boat house for those using gear.

If no one calls the contact person by the day before they do not have to go to the lake.

 

River Runs:

Must provide your own boat and gear

Let the contact name know your coming

Must have proper safety gear. (IE: life jacket / helmet / booties / throwbag / whistle/ clothing appropriate to the weather conditions.)

 

Policy for Loaning Gear:

Boats and equipment can be loaned for club sanctioned events.

Race boats can be loaned to juniors and must be signed out for a specific period of time.

IE: class duration/ race season?

 

How to sanction an event:

-The event must be pre-announced in sufficient tome for the insurance company to approve a rider if necessary.

- The event must give the following information:

Date

Times

Place

Water Classification

Where Pre-registering occurs - submit names

- Give the name of the person taking responsibility for the event IE: organizer and/or instructor(s)

Group Paddles-

To paddle on the lake at non-booked times, you must sign and pick up a key from the contact person.

Loan criteria-

Club members only

Must have taken a beginner class. Can demonstrate a wet exit.

There must be at least 3 members who are capable of helping each other.

The key must be returned the same day it is borrowed and there must be time available that isn't booked to lessons or other use.

Coaching at National Events:

The CCE will pay $100 for each club member in good standing who requires coaching at the National Championship race and camp. The CCE will also pay a maximum of $100 per day for expenses to a maximum of 7 days for a coach.  Subject to funds being available.

The amount of the coaching grant will be determined each year by the CCE executive, and will depend upon the availability of funds.

The  team coach will be retained on the following understanding:

  • That the BC team members will be his/her coaching priority
  • The team will practise as one group,
  • The entire team will practise during the BC team time slots.

The CCE will give an annual travel grant for:

  1. Each CCE member in good standing who has made the BC whitewater slalom team;
  2. Who is 23 years of age or under during the current year;
  3. Who is traveling to an out-of-province Canadian National Team Trial or a National Canadian Whitewater Slalom Championship race.

The amount of the grant will be determined each year by the CCE executive, and will depend upon the availability of funds.

Tofino
-  You must be a member in good standing of the CCE.
-  $5 per person is being charged to register and hold your spot for Tofino. (under 5 years of age Free) -  The CCE will pay for Friday and Saturday night. 
-  It is your responsibility to book additional nights if you are staying longer.
-You may bring guests at $10 per night / person.
